Michael J Fox Delivers Again

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

For years, Michael J Fox Foundation has been at the forefront of raising funds for Parkinson's research, as well as providing a comprehensive web site that informs and supports patients and their families.

Dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinsons during his lifetime, Michael created the foundation in 2000. Using the MJFF approach and a group of scientific staff and expert advisors, the Michael J. Fox Foundation is able to track, audit, analyze and fund those research projects that stand the best chance of delivering effective and quantifiable treatment options for Parkinson's patients.

Those research projects that show greatest results then translate into clinical trials, which are also tracked on his web site. For the first time, Canadians are now also able to go on line and volunteer for any clinical trials in Canada. You can find information on clinical trials in general, and by going through their step-by-step questionnaire, the trial finder will sort through those clinical trials that are best suited for each individual volunteer, and make suggestions accordingly.

You don't have to be a current Parkinsonian patient either. Some clinical trials target those individuals who have a genetic link to a person with Parkinson's or anyone else in general.

With 1million Americans and approx 100,000 Canadians currently living with Parkinson's, we need as many volunteers as we can get, if Michael and all of us affected by Parkinson's directly or indirectly, are to see a cure for Parkinson's in our lifetime.

Get involved. Now.
